Lindsey was born on January 16th, 1982. Lindsey was a happy bright boy, full of giggles and love. He had a heart of gold and shared his compassion with all during his short life.
Lindsey loved adventure! Lots of skateboarding and biking. After some struggles with addiction in his mid teens Lindsey went to treatment and got back on track. Eventually Lindsey started riding in the Jordan World circus Globe of Death! Lindsey also did Master of Ceremony and high wire and some clowning as well. He loved his circus family.
Sadly Lindsey had an accident and lost a digit and the pain killers given resurfaced his addiction. He came back to Vancouver Canada and went into treatment and had some periods of sobriety. Lindsey had some serious pain issues and in dealing with those, the addiction took over again.
Lindsey was chosen to be in the At Home/Chez Soi program and was moved into his own apartment. At this time his mental health was deteriorating and it was noted that he could not manage on his own. He was moved to a transition bed in St. Helens and then to Pacific Coast Apartments supported housing program run by Coast Mental Health.
Lindsey became ill with an infection and went to St. Paul's Hospital where he was admitted on July 9th, 2012. He was admitted but left due to the fact his physician prescribed Fentanyl patch was discontinued and adequate replacement wasn't provided.
Lindsey went to his home in supported housing and lay dying for 4 days and then lay dead for 3 more days, before at his mothers urging staff finally checked on him. When they discovered Lindsey's body, no one from Coast Mental Health contacted his Mom to inform her of his passing. She found out through a Facebook message from a stranger many hours later.
The cause of Lindsey's death was Staphylococal Sepis due to or a consequence of Infective Endocarditis. This terrible tragedy was preventable.
